Clasp 1st Army
1st Army:-
It was decreed that the maximum number of campaign stars that could be earned by any man or woman was five, and those who qualified for more received a clasp to be worn on the ribbon of the appropriate star. Only one clasp to a ribbon was allowed. Therefore this clasp can be worn on these stars:-
AFRICA STAR
To qualify for the clasp "1st Army"
personel are required to have served either:-
(a) in a unit or formation in Tunisia or Algeria between 8th November 1942 and 31st December 1942, both dates inclusive; or
(b) in a unit or formation located forward of First Army rear boundry between 1st January and 12th May 1943, both dates inclusive; or
(c) in a unit or formation under the command of the First army between 1st January and 12 th May 1943, including units or formations under command of first army for local defence and administration,wether or not the unit or formation was on the First army Order of Battle.
